Summer students in Las Cruces Public Schools’ Class of 2022 will participate in commencement exercises Thursday, June 30 at Mayfield High School. The ceremony will take place inside the gym at 6 p.m., and doors will open at 5.
The event was a coordinated effort by all LCPS high school principals. The welcome address will be given by Mayfield High’s principal, Eric Fraass; Las Cruces High’s principal, Michelle Ronga, will deliver the address; Organ Mountain’s principal, Jim Schapekahm, will officially present the class for commencement, and the LCPS Board of Education will join all principals in the presentation of diplomas. The evening will be capped off with the traditional turning of the tassel, led by Centennial High’s principal, Susie Hendee. Graduates’ names will be read by Gabriela Alaniz, principal at Arrowhead Park Schools and Rebecca Rodriguez, principal at Rio Grande Preparatory Institute.
